HTC S710

If you give HTC S710 to anybody, they would comment it as a good phone with good display, keys etc. But anybody would hardly notice the QWERTY keyboard in its side. When the keyboard pops out, the display immediately switches form portrait to landscape view, giving you the feel of using a clamshell PDA. The keyboard can not be said as extremely spacious but is just enough for two finger typing. But once you hold it in your hand with its killer feature hidden, you will definitely doubt its weight. It is only slightly thicker than your normal handsets. It fits tidily in your pocket and can be held comfortably.
Design:
When compared with orange SPV C600, it is a little wider but has around the same depth and has a larger screen of 2.4 inches QVGA screen. It takes up half the area of the front side of the handset. The resolution is the standard 320 x 240 pixels. The pictures and text look clear and the colors are vivid and impressive. The keys are also back-lit so you will not be having any problems while typing messages at night. At the top of the device, there is the ear piece containing a couple of LED’s for indicating the status of the Bluetooth/ Network and charging activity. At the flip side of the phone they have the 2 mega pixel camera. It does not have flash but still does better in the low-light areas. Your SIM card slot lies right behind the keyboard pad. The left edge of the HTC S710 Smartphone sports a voice dial button and the volume control. On the top of the right edge it has the camera button and at the bottom it has got the MicroSD Slot, covered by a rubber flap. The bottom of the phone contains the mini USB connector. The rubberized back makes your grip over the phone very easy.
It’s brand new OS:
HTC S710 PDA Phone is one of the first smart phones to acquire the brand new Microsoft’s mobile phone OS - windows mobile 6.0 standard formerly known as the Crossbow, which brings in benefits such as that of the office mobile suite complements its keyboard well. It can own the title “Best looking windows smart phone”. The keyboard has two soft-menu keys that helping you in the navigation through the windows mobile software.
Included features:
The home screen is simple and gives you the information that you will need. Though there are no too many changes from the previous versions, there are just a few changes in a few functionalities. The calendar is updated with an appointment preview pane at the bottom of the screen. The call history is listed next to the names in the contacts list. There are also a few changes in the messaging functionality. The texts can be resized which enables fuss free reading of the longer messages and for the first time it supports HTML emails. The XT9 predictive text messaging facility can also be said as a major improvement. This differs from the standard T9 s/w by the inclusion of next letter prediction and auto spell correction. The ClearVue software allows you to view the Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations. HTC S710 Touch Phone has 64MB of memory on-board to store your data, if you need some extra memory, you can use the MicroSD slot.
Connectivity:
Although there is lack of 3G, the connectivity is good. You can still enjoy GSM, GPRS, EDGE quad-band connectivity, WIFI and stereo Bluetooth. The quad-band connectivity allows you to use it in most of the countries around the world. The absence of 3G can be felt when you are in out of range of a Wi-Fi hotspot where you will be experiencing a slow data transfer speed via GPRS.
Camera:
This HTC S710 PDA Smartphone is equipped with a 2 mega pixel camera. It has a good camera quality indeed by giving impressive sharpness to the pictures. HTC S710’s camera gives a commendable performance in the low-light areas compared to the other cameras of HTC.
Battery:
The battery life can be said as good. It stays alive for around six and a half hours when music is let to play in a loop and the display being forced to stay on. There was no audible low-battery warnings, HTC can consider including this feature in its next release.
Box contents:
The box contains a charger, a hands-free kit, battery, standard mini USB cable, CDs and manuals required to get started.
The stylish compact S710 would steal your hearts with its messaging facilities, the slide-in QWERTY keyboard, the large display and a quality camera. A great choice if you don’t mind the absence of 3G.
